Mr. Perry has literally spent the whole
of his adult life engaged in the practice of Industrial
Relations. After graduating from Howard University and
returning to Jamaica, he joined the National Workers
Union in 1969. He became General Secretary in the late
1970s and Island Supervisor in 1981. During this time he
continued his interest in the field by participating in
Trade Union courses at the Front Royal Institute
George Meany Labor Center, USA and the Denada Lo School
in Denmark among others.
Mr. Perry was also President of the
Caribbean Bauxite Mines and Metal Workers Federation and
the United Port Workers Union. He represented Caribbean
Mines Workers at the International Metal Workers
Federation and sat on the Executive Committee of the
Caribbean Congress of Labour (CCL).
He resigned from the Labour Movement in
1987 and since then has functioned in the private sector
as an Industrial Relations Consultant. Mr. Perrys
wealth of experience in the field and active consultancy
practice provides him with a unique insight into the
Labour Relations nexus in Jamaica. He is an invaluable
member of FINSACs Board.
